Volkswagen in the Motor-Kritik

"On his 65th birthday, Dr. Porsche can look back on 47 years of outstanding activity in motor vehicle construction, in which the creation of the "Lohner-Porsche electric car", the Mercedes compressor racing car, the torsion bar suspension, the Auto-Union racing car, and the German Volkswagen were impressive high points."

KDF sports sedan for study purposes

"A preliminary note for our readers! Please note the heading! In the development of a motor vehicle type, various individual versions are often made, which are only used for study purposes. It is therefore pointless to overwhelm the manufacturer or the test department with questions about prices etc. because of the highly interesting design shown.

The KDF chassis with 1100ccm engine is used, which delivers approx. 36 hp at n = 3600. The normal engine of the KDf car is therefore slightly enlarged in the cubic capacity, otherwise tuned to high performance, which is already reflected in the higher speed. The comparison picture compared to the KDF car easily shows the excellent, streamlined shape of the sports two-seater, through which the air flow swirls around gently and gently glides to the rear. The cross-section of the car, which is directed towards the air flow, is kept as small as possible, so the coefficient of drag is also very low.

We hear of a car weight of approx. 550 kg (ready for operation), i.e. only around 15.2 kg PS, a top speed of 140 km / h. and a fuel consumption of less than 5 liters of 105-110 km / h. It must be taken into account that the engine works without supercharging.

the comparison of the special version compared to the normal car shows the differences between the flat ones that are directed towards the air flow."
